Join us for "YApalooza" for a panel discussion with various YA authors, a raffle & fun activities. Wonder what it takes to write a book? Want to know more about character development or plot? Just want to come have your books signed? Come listen to YA authors in the Readings Gallery for a discussion about their books & their writing. So far the line-up includes Teri Hall, author of The Line, who will give a preview of her sequel, Away, Alexa Martin, with her debut novel Girl Wonder, which is partially based in Bellingham and Mount Baker, Kimberly Derting with her book The Body Finder, and Denise Jaden, author of Losing Faith. More authors will be joining the line-up, so more information is to come.

Alexa Martin, Girl Wonder:
After being turned away from her new school's gifted and talented program, Charlotte, a Washington State high school senior, begins to lose her self-confidence when she befriends a charismatic and brilliant student who offers her popularity at the cost of her self-esteem.

Alexa Martin is the author of Girl Wonder, a novel for teens about a girl who learns the hard way that the most dangerous friends will always dazzle you first. She is a graduate of WWU and holds an MFA from Bennington College. She is also an avid trail runner.

Kimberly Derting, The Body Finder:
While her feelings for her best friend, Jay Heaton, are new, sixteen-year-old Violet Ambrose has been able to sense dead bodies since she was a little girl. The Body Finder is a gripping tale of a girl with a morbid ability that could lead her to a killer and the boy who would never let anything happen to her.  Kimberly Derting lives in the Pacific Northwest, where the gloomy weather is ideal for writing anything dark or creepy, leading to her debut novel, The Body Finder, and its follow-up, Desires of the Dead. She lives with her husband and their three beautiful (and often mouthy) children, who serve as an endless source of inspiration.

Teri Hall, Away:
Away, Teri Hall's thrilling sequel to her debut dystopia, The Line, will be released September 15th, 2011.  See what Rachel finds when she crosses into the unknown territory known as “Away.”  Will she survive the trip?  Author Teri Hall is from Washington State.  She likes to write books.

Denise Jaden, Losing Faith:
When Brie's sister, Faith, dies in a fall from a cliff, Brie's world falls apart. As she goes through the bizarre and devastating process of mourning the sister she never understood, Brie must also contend with increasingly distant parents, her boyfriend's betrayal, and her sudden outcast status at school.  Brie encounters more questions than closure:  Certain facts about the way Faith died just don't line up. She soon uncovers Faith's role in a dark and twisted religious cult...a cult that now wants Brie as a member.

About Denise Jaden:
Denise Jaden has been a professional Polynesian dancer, a fitness competitor, a mushroom farmer, a church secretary, and a homeschooling mom.  Losing Faith is her first novel.  She lives just outside Vancouver, Canada, with her husband and son.
